Resources
· Slide Share-History and Philosophy of Science
· Independent research
· http://www.slideshare.net/SciPhilHist/3-aristotles-biology#btnNext
· This resource is reliable because the information provided is correct and up to date. This resource is also very appropriate because it is in a slideshow format that helps students understand information in a sequential way. The information is great for this unit because it introduces students to history of science and how it all began, which is a great kickoff for seeing how Greece affected science then and now.
· PBS
· Independent research and classroom snippets
· http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/darwin/index.html
· This resource is reliable because it is published by PBS, which publishes content for academic purposes. This resource provides great short snippets of their longer movie about Charles Darwin’s life. The videos are great quality and show the various issues Darwin ran into and who helped him along the way. This resource is beneficial to this unit because it takes students on a journey with Darwin through his thoughts and visions.

· What Science is and How it Works
· Derry, N. Gregory. Princeton University Press, 2002.
· This children’s book is designed to inform about what people think science is. · Wildlife of the Galapagos
· Fitter, Julian., Fitter, Daniel., Hosking, David. Princeton University Press, 2002.
· This book is written to inform about the various species of animals that live on the Galapagos Islands. This resource is perfect for this unit because it will introduce students to exotic animals they had never seen before and set a stage for how Darwin felt being on these islands. The book includes many details also about the animals that Darwin actually saw and gives a better account of the items he took with him back to Europe.

· Biology-Exploring Life
· Campbell, Neil., Williamson, Brad., Heyden, Robin. Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006.
· This book is the biology textbook used in typical high school classrooms. This is a great resource because it is filled with information about classification which most teachers don’t have time to cover during class time. Students will be encouraged to use this as a resource since it goes into depth about all the topics the unit covers.
· ODDEE-Weird Science
· 10 Most Amazing Extinct Species
· Independent Research
· http://www.oddee.com/item_88742.aspx
· This is an article provided to engage individuals in the interesting images and facts about animals that went extinct. This article is really easy to read and has images which students will enjoy looking at. This article is a great asset to this unit because it gives students an idea of the animals that have gone extinct and continue to today. This article also sparks interest of what the animals looked like in the time of ancient Greece and how that affected science and Aristotle and Plato.
· Darwiniana
· On the Origin of Species (1st ed.)
· Independent Research
· http://darwiniana.org/index.htm#Darwiniana
· This is an article of Charles Darwin’s actual writings from his first book published about Natural Selection and Evolution. This article is quite a difficult read, but students are meant to glance over the information and get a feel for his thinking at the time. This entire website has many great articles as well, which students will find beneficial when completing their project assessment.

Technology
Students will have access to the computer lab to complete research for their student project. Students will then use Delicious.com to organize and collect all the information they find on their topic. They will use a Google Doc or Weebly to then take that information and create a website.
The main use of technology during this unit will be for the students final project where they create their website.
